ITINERARY

DAY 1

  • Transfer from the airport to the hotel in Lima.

DAY 2

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you will lead to the bus station to take the bus to Huaraz.
  • At night, arrival at the city of Huaraz (it takes about 8 hours).
  • Transfer to the hotel.

DAY 3

  • At 09:00 h, breakfast at the hotel.
  • There will be an acclimatization walk for three to four hours around Huaraz.

DAY 4: Huaraz – Hualcayan (10334 ft) - Amacuna (12631 ft)

  • At 07:00 h, breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure to the north, passing through the towns of Carhuaz, Yungay and Caraz paved road up to km 87. Continue on dirt road up to Hualcaya, this will be the meeting point with the muleteer and mules, and the starting point of the trekking (the journey takes about 3 hours).
  • We are going to ascend up to Amacuna (12631 ft.) where we will camp (the trekking takes 4 hours approximately).

DAY 5: Amacuna - Llamapashillon (15912 ft) - Osoruri (14599 ft)

  • At 07:00 h, breakfast.
  • Depart from the base camp. We will pass Whiscash up to reach the lagoon Cullicocha. In this place, we will have lunch and we will rest a little bit.
  • After lunch, we will carry on walking up to El Paso de Llamapashillon (15912 ft.) to then descent up to Osoruri (14993 ft.). Arrive in Osoruri where we will camp (the trekking takes about 8 hours).

DAY 6: Osoruri - Vientuna (15583 ft) - Janca Rurish (13943 ft)

  • At 07:00 h, breakfast.
  • Depart from the base camp to continue ascending up to El Paso de Vientuna (15583 ft.). On the way, we will observe the Quebrada Alpamayo and the mountains Pilanco and Milluaraju, after that, we will descend up to Pampa Ruins to rest and have lunch there.
  • It continues along the Quebrada Alpamayo up to Janca Rurish (13943 ft.). We will camp there from where the view of the Alpamayo Mountain on its pyramidal shape is breathtaking (the trekking takes about 7 hours).

DAY 7: Janca Rurish

  • At 09:00 h, breakfast.
  • Day for relax or to visit the Janca Rurish lagoon, and go for a short trek.

DAY 8: Janca Rurish – Paso Cara Cara (15583 ft) - Huillca (13779 ft)

  • At 07:00 h, breakfast.
  • We will start the hike up to El Paso Cara Cara (15583 ft.). Descend for the Quebrada Moyobamba up to Huillca (13779 ft.) where we will camp (the trekking takes about 8 hours).

DAY 9: Huillca - Paso Pucajirca (15748 ft) - Jancapampa (13779 ft)

  • At 07:00 h, breakfast.
  • Start the walk passing near the house of the shepherds to reach to the Paso Pucajirca (15748 ft.); we will pass very close to the glacier Pucajirca. We will descent slowly with caution up to Jancapampa (13779 ft.) where we will camp (the trekking takes about 7 hours).

DAY 10: Jancapampa – Pomabamba – Huaraz

  • At 07:00 h, breakfast.
  • Departure from camp to the village of Pomabamba; we will visit the village during a short time to then depart to Huaraz by bus. On the way we will pass for the villages Piscobamba, Yacma, Yanama and Portachuelo of Llanganuco. We will have a nice view of the mountains Huascaran, Huandoy, Chopicalqui, Pisco and Chacraraju. The car will descend for the edge of the lagoons of Orcococha (Laguna Macho) and Chinancocha (Laguna Hembra) which are also known as Llanganuco Lake.
  • Arrival in the villages of Yungay and the town of Huaraz.
  • Transfer to the hotel.

DAY 11: Huaraz – Lima

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you will lead to the bus station to take the bus to Lima.
  • At night, arrival in Lima city.
  • Transfer to your hotel.
