If you visit the south of Peru, do not miss the opportunity to navigate the Tambopata River and enjoy the beautiful landscapes. One of the routes will let you see cliffs, islands and original forests, where you can observe the multicolored butterflies; Tambopata is recognized for having the world record for the largest variety of butterflies. In addition he will exult with songs of birds among others and as if that were not enough, we will take you to the “collpa El Chuncho”, where you can admire one of the most spectacular moments of wildlife, when you see reach parrots and macaws that congregate to eat clay, a great natural spectacle of colors and sounds that cannot forget.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

  • Transfer from the airport to the Lodge in Puerto Maldonado. Board the boat to get the lodge in Tambopata. During the boating, it will be possible the observation of the local farms, variety of birds, capybaras which are the largest rodents in the world (the boating takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes). There will be a box lunch on the way. After reaching the lodge, it will be time to have a short break.
  • There will be a night walk in the forest to hear the nocturnal sounds produced by the mammals, insects, bats, frogs, etc.
  • Dinner and rest at the lodge.

DAY 2

  • At 04:30 h, we will start the tour taking a hot drink like coffee or tea to then take the boat to go to “Collpa El Chuncho”, in the National Park Bahuaja Sonene. There, we will observe beautiful natural scenes and capybaras, turtles and alligators on the banks of the Tambopata River (the boating takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes). Upon our arrival at the Collpa, we will observe hundreds of parrots and macaws, on a great show of sound and color that gather to eat clay.
  • We will have time to taste a light snack before returning to the lodge where we will take a more consistent breakfast. As an optional activity, you can swim in the Tambopata River or do other activities like kayaking or fishing.
  • After lunch, we will take a walk to observe the plants, the medicinal trees, the palm trees among others and at night, we will boat ride around the lodge to see the alligators.
  • Dinner and rest at the lodge.

DAY 3

  • After breakfast, we will return to Puerto Maldonado and go the airport.

Do not wait a travel partner. Only a few people dare to leave the comfort zone but remember the real rewards are abroad.
